Mission Statement
To help those in need
To heal those whose heart’s bleed

Vision
The Redsun’s vision is to have a society without sadness, without pain and without depression. The Redsun believes that the ideals of hope, charity and community, are achievable through the power of brotherhood and fellowship. No matter what race or age or class, the Redsun welcomes all to follow in their vision of a happy and united society.

History
In the late 1940’s a small group known as the Redsun was formed, by Bernard Peterson. It was formed after the end of WW2 as a support group particularly for young people who had been involved in the war or had husbands or wives die in the war. Peterson himself was a war veteran who had lost many friends, and his fiancé in the war.
The group welcomed members though, from all walks of life, particularly people who were lost or depressed. The Redsun discovered their mission would be to help these unfortunate people, and they would regularly go out into the city streets, to find homeless children and adults and take them into their support group.

Before long the group had many members, and was unable to sustain the shear size of their small community in Melbourne. The Redsun, were fortunate enough to receive funding to build a small commune in northern Victoria, in which all the members moved to. During 1965 Chairman Clarke was installed into the community, and since then the group has grown and grown to present day, into a very large/self sufficient community, with branches in New Zealand and Indonesia.

Chairman Clarke regularly holds seminars in Melbourne and Sydney to spread his vision of the Redsun.

Kerry Hargraves (45)
Chief Operations Officer of the Redsun

Kerry has been a member of the Redsun for 20 years, and the COO of the Redsun for 10. A well loved member of the community and a devoted family woman. Kerry once battled with depression but is now an avid supporter of banning anti-depressants. Kerry found that her battle with depression was only made victorious, not through drugs, but through the power of the Redsun’s help and guidance.

Brendan Underwood (30)
Chief counsellor

Brendan joined the Redsun at the age of 15. Brendan’s father had left he and his mother when Brendan was 4, and Brendan’s mother had been in and out of work since her husband left her. Brendan was found in the inner city of Melbourne drunk and disorderly in 1992 by a counselor of the Redsun, and was taken under their wing. Since then Brendan and his mother live at the Redsun community, and Brendan has now become a well respected member of the community, and was recently instated as the Chief counselor.
